The music of Leroy Anderson
conducted by his son Kurt Anderson
|
 |
The whimsical and captivating music of Leroy Anderson makes for an simple yet outstanding Pops concert.
Composer John Williams has said of Leroy Anderson's music, "though we have performed his works countless times over
the years at the Boston Pops, his music remains forever as young and fresh as the very day on which it was composed."
Kurt Anderson shares his love for his father's music through conducting appearances with orchestras of all sizes, from
community orchestras to the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra.
He has said "There are many composers who have written serious music, and some of them have done it quite well, but there
are very few who have written music that makes you smile and I am proud to say that my father did that quite well."

Kurt Anderson is a living treasure and a connection to the past when America enjoyed a love affair with the golden
era of Pops music. His knowledge of his father's music is the last word in authenticity, reflected in the personal experiences
he shares with audiences and in his interpretation of these wonderful gems. And like his father, he conducts in a very efficient
and economical style.

Kurt Anderson not only handled the baton like a trouper for all the selections, but he especially brought great insight and
humor to his father’s wonderful works. (with the Bridgeport Symphony)

It is with great delight we give high praise for our recent experience with Kurt Anderson.... There is no hesitation
to recommend both an all-Anderson program and Kurt Anderson as conductor.
